Steve Jobs unveils the iPad
“The last time there was this much excitement about a tablet, it had some commandments written on it.”
With these words, Steve Jobs unveiled the Apple iPad today at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. He showed a device that can browse the Web, does email, watch movies, watch TV, display albums, photos, Calendar, YouTube, iTunes, watch embedded videos inside articles, and, of course, plays games with flicks, gestures, and a very responsive virtual QWERTY keyboard. The New York Times, EA, NOVA, MLB all took their turn onstage to showcase their apps redesigned especially for the iPad.

This is a device for content consumption, not content creation. Though there is iWork and a virtual keyboard, it just looks too arkward to comfortably type upon for a long time. Surprisingly, there is no killer app to accompany the device.
There are 2 models, one with Wi-Fi and a second one with 3G wireless (needs to purchase a data plan for the latter).
Most buyers will also get the iPad case which not only protects the device but can also serve as a stand for hands-free display and lap pillow for typing and reading.
