GodFinger – The Good Times We Had
Once acclaimed as one of the best games on the iPhone, GodFinger is now a perfect example of a good game gone sour. Here is our unvarnished review.
The Good Times
GodFinger is a game in which you are a god and you rule your very own planet, complete with followers (little cartoon-like people) who worship you. You can control Wonders, like rain, sunshine and lightning. Even though you are deity, you still have to deal with a Shopkeeper who gives you xp (experience points) if you buy items from him and/or complete goals that he sets for you.
You can get money from your followers by putting them to work in farms and caves, which you also have to purchase from the Shopkeeper. TIP: Treat your followers well: let them relax by fishing or go to taverns.
All of this seems like loads of fun and it is, until you hit about Level 20.
The Good Times We Had
At first, when I barely had a speck of grass on my planet, the game was great. Now, with about 4 farms, 3 caves and 2 tents, I find that the game encounters technical difficulties.
Owning your own planet sounds fun but this quickly becomes a chore because of frustrating technical problems and crashes. The game is also uber slow and does not respond to your finger swipes immediately. Be forewarned that GodFinger is a memory hog, requiring an enormous amount of memory to run properly.
Don’t worry about deleting it to make space for other games since the progress is saved on your account and can be restored anytime, as long as you remember your password.
The Good Times Long Gone
I give it a 3/5 — more out of respect for the old GodFinger and the good times we all had playing that game. I hold out hope that ngmoco will fix all the crashes.

This game was fun the first time around, I think mostly because it came out around when the iPad was first released and it was free. Then, after doing the same thing over and over and over again, I just let my planet burn.
Fun in the beginning and got old quick.
